A taste of Champagne in bygone days: a very small production from miraculously preserved and un-grafted vines, grown the traditional way. 100% Pinot Noir.
At Bollinger, only the highest quality harvests become a vintage: in 2005, the Vieilles Vignes Français parcels were harvested on 22 September and produced an exceptional Pinot Noir. The Wine was Cellar aged for more than twice the time required by the Appellation.
The elegant maturity of the 2005 vintage is revealed in its purest expression. The colour of Deep gold, reminiscent of a bright autumn morning. Very intense on the nose, characteristic of mature vintages. Quince, honey, dried apricots and candied fruits flavours. Tertiary aromas of grilled, toasted bread. On the palate a round, creamy mouthfeel with an effervescence that melts into the wine. A saline, mineral finish. Incredible length with exceptional richness and maturity.
The VVF 2005 can be paired with the finest dishes but can also help create a special occasion on its own; wine connoisseurs will share it thoughtfully, enjoying the opportunity to try its rare unmatched flavours.
