A great way to sample the Balvenie Whisky range; containing 1 x 5cl of each of the following:
Balvenine 12 Year Old:
The Balvenie DoubleWood 12-year-old single malt whisky gains its distinctive character from being matured in two wood types. It spends at least least 12 years in traditional whisky casks: American Oak ex-bourbon barrels and hogsheads, and then is moved to Spanish oak ex-Oloroso sherry casks for an additional nine months.
On the nose, Sweet fruit and Oloroso sherry notes, layered with honey and vanilla. In the mouth it is smooth and mellow with beautifully combined flavours ~ nutty sweetness, cinnamon spiciness and a delicately proportioned layer of sherry. A long and warming finish.
Balvenie 17 Year Old:
To craft The Balvenie DoubleWood 17 year old single malt whisky, Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE returned to one of his most celebrated achievements – consecutive maturation in two different types of cask, a process often referred to as ‘cask finishing’
On the nose, elegant and complex oak, vanilla, honeyed sweetness and a hint of green apple. In the mouth, it is sweet with dried fruits, sherbet spice, toasted almonds and cinnamon, layered with a richness of creamy toffee notes and traces of oak and deep vanilla. On the finish, vanilla oak, honey and spicy sweetness.
Balvenie 14 Year Old:
Balvenie is matured in traditional oak casks for 14 years, before an added time in ex Caribbean rum casks, imparting an added layer of flavour. Balvenie 14 yo Caribbean Cask is a lovely smooth whisky, with added notes of vanilla and fruit imparted from the rum casking.
