To create Batch 8 of The Balvenie Tun 1509, the distillery's Malt Master, David C.Stewart MBE, carefully hand-selected 21 of the finest oak casks - 4 ex-American barrels, 10 Sherry butts and 7 hogsheads - from the distillery's precious aged Whiskies.
These 21 casks have spent a number of months in a traditional marrying Tun, knitting together. Like other releases in this series, The Balvenie Tun 1509 Batch No.8 carries no age statement on the bottle as David Stewart MBE uses a marriage of some of The Balvenies rarest and most precious casks of varying ages, making this a truly special whisky.
A Scottish Whisky with a rich and deep nose with lots of exotic and elegant oak notes, followed by sweeter aromas of dried fruits, raisins and dates. Followed by a spicy outburst of ground ginger and some melted brown sugar.
The palate is rich, lush and slightly tangy with candied orange peel, lots of oaks, vanilla and layers of honeycomb. The finish is sweet and malty with notes of oak, vanilla and spices.
