Antinori Tignanello

The Antinori family have been producing wine in Tuscany for six centuries, and exporting it for four. The purchase of the Tignanello estate in 1900 marked the beginning of a remarkable period of expansion which shows no signs of abating. Through judicious acquisition of vineyards and an uncanny knack for developing iconic wines, Antinori has become the pre-eminen wine producer of Tuscany, and arguably Italy.

Tignanello was the first Sangiovese to be aged in barriques, the first contemporary red wine blended with untraditional varieties (specifically Cabernet) and one of the first red wines in the Chianti Classico region that did not use white grapes. Tignanello is a milestone. It is produced with a selection of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.

Tignanello 2019 offers exceptional complexity with notes of red plums, strawberries and pomegranate, a hint of apricot, and an alluring mix of vanilla, dried flowers, chocolate, nutmeg, coffee, caramel and Mediterranean herbs. The tannins are particularly silky, and the vibrant acidity carries the long finish which ends with notes of roasted coffee and dark chocolate.
