As if Porseleinberg was not already one of the most well regarded wines to come out of South Africa, the 2018 vintage became only the 2nd South African red wine to ever be awarded the perfect 100pt score by lead South African wine critic Tim Atkin MW.
2018 is a much more elegant, nuanced expression of this iconic wine. Initially, you are faced with charming red and black berry fruit enveloped by savoury yet supple tannin. But if you allow this wine to be decanted for several hours, more interesting notes of black olive tapenade, wild herbs, grilled meat and schistous minerality will emerge.
Such a graceful wine, that would merit 5-10 years ageing in the cellar, if you can resist the urge.
