Bollinger La Grande Annee 2008 Magnum 150cl

La Grande Annee is the embodiment of the carefully preserved traditional expertise of the Bollinger Champagne House. The wine is therefore exclusively vinified in small aged oak barrels. Champagne Bollinger has never abandoned this traditional craft method, which helps develop aromas of great finesse. After a prolonged ageing on its lees, even today every bottle of La Grande Annee is riddled and disgorged by hand.

At Bollinger, only very high quality harvests become a vintage: in 2008, the remarkable maturity of the grapes combined with a phenomenal acidity have produced a wine of infinite depth and allowed an exceptional vintage to be created. This Grande Annee vintage consists of 71% Pinot Noir and 29% Chardonnay and has a moderate dosage of 8 grams per litre. It is sealed with a natural cork and has been cellar aged for more than twice the time required by the appellation.

It is a delicate golden colour showing signs of the wine's maturity and Bollinger's wine-making methods. The nose has a wonderful aromatic depth to it with spicy and floral scents leading to a complex nose of wild peach, plum and orange peel. The palate is dense and harmoniously soft with a creamy and fresh structure and a gentle finish.

This wine is perfect for pairing with gourmet food such as seared scallops, grilled lobster or chicken in a light, creamy sauce.

This vintage can be enjoyed now or will age well in a cellar.
