Tequila & Mezcal Spirits

Tequila and Mezcal are both distilled spirits that originate from Mexico and are made from the agave plant. While both spirits share a lot of similarities, they have some distinct differences that set them apart.

Tequila is made from blue agave plants that are grown in specific regions of Mexico. Mainly in the state of Jalisco.

It is a type of mezcal, but with a very specific production process that includes steaming the agave before distilling. This gives tequila its distinct flavour profile of citrus and herbs. Tequila is typically clear or pale gold in colour and has a minimum alcohol content of 35%.

Mezcal, on the other hand, can be made from any type of agave plant that is grown in various regions throughout Mexico.

Distilling using traditional methods, which involve roasting the agave in underground pits before fermentation and distillation. This gives mezcal its distinctive smoky flavour, with notes of wood and earth. Mezcal can vary in colour from clear to amber and has an alcohol content that can range from 40% to 55%.

So sit back and grab a few of these bottles. See for yourself why tequila is well on its way to becoming the next best liquor to appeal to sippers.
