Gordon & Macphail Discovery Range - Glenrothes 11yo Whisky 70cl 43% ABV

Not to be confused with the town of Glenrothes, just north of Edinburgh and home to the huge grain distillery of Cameronbridge, this malt distillery is in fact located in the town of Rothes, between Elgin and Dufftown, where there are five malt whisky producers.

Only one carries the name of the town, and that is Glen Rothes. Founded in 1878, the distillery was completed with a small loan from the local church and can be found tucked away along a tiny street off the main road.

Aromas of rich toffee mingled with stewed fruits. Sherry influences mix with forest fruits, delicate cinnamon and chocolate. The palate has notes of raspberry and blackberries complemented by cinnamon and charred oak, with a creamy milk chocolate and orange finish.
