Chateau de Chambert Cahors Malbec 2016
Chateau de Chambert has been owned and run by Philippe Lejeune since 2007, with the support of consultant winemaker Stephane Derenoncourt. It has been certified organic since 2012, and biodynamic since 2015.
The vines, which are over 30 years old, are planted high up on the limestone plateau of Cahors. The limestone gives freshness and balance to the wine, while the high red iron-oxide content gives colour, richness and power. Grapes are harvested by hand.
This Cahors Malbec is dark and intense in colour. It is a fruit forward style with rich blueberry, blackberry and violet aromas, melded with gentle notes of spice from French oak on the palate, and balanced by a lively acidity and silky tannins. A stunning and harmonious example of Cahors Malbec.
