Dom Perignon Vintage 2009 Limited Edition Design By Tokujin 75cl Gift Boxed 12.5% ABV
The Dom Perignon 2009, presented in a special limited edition Gift Box by artist Tokujin Yoshioka. Yoshioka was invited by Dom Perignon to create an artistic tribute to the 2009 Vintage. Inspired by the famous words of Dom Perignon himself “I’m drinking stars!” Yoshioka presents “Prism”- an homage to a champagne of living.
This vintage offers a taste of the ripest and richest fruit, with the promise of the future wine's freshness and energy. Notes of guava and spicy green grapefruit zest combine with stone fruit: white peach and nectarine. The wine opens up, with the whole complemented by woody vanilla and warm, lightly toasted brioche.
The fruit is majestic: ripe, fleshy and profound, giving an extremely refreshing taste sensation - more of those stone fruits coming into play as soon as it hits the tongue alongside a little grapefruit giving that zing of acidity combined with a citric freshness on the mid-palate. Beyond the richness and a certain voluptuousness is a strong impression of consistency that prevails. The wine’s power is remarkably restrained. The various sensations - silky, salty, sappy, bitter and briny - converge and persist with a hint of a sweet citrus zing, creating a long-lasting finish.
Only ever a Vintage, Dom Perignon is an act of creation, constantly renewed after each harvest. The stretch of excellent weather condition of 2009 was unprecedented, and explored new frontiers of grape ripeness in Champagne. The 2009 vintage brings a prodigious, sunny, bold and generous decade to a close.
The champagne reaches out to the "vegetable" and "mineral" worlds, calling to sea urchin carbonara with cardamom mousse. It works brilliantly when it has something to chew on: octopus marinated in Sicilian orange juice and roasted in butter.
